"In Europe we thought of wine as something as healthy and normal as food and also a great giver of happiness and well being and delight. Drinking wine was not a snobbism nor a sign of sophistication nor a cult; it was as natural as eating and to me as necessary."

Greetings!

As we celebrate our 10 year anniversary, we realized how much a part of this area that Satek Winery has become.  We are proud to be one of the first places people mention when asked about their favorite places in Steuben County and its "Land of 101 Lakes".  But we know that our growth and success couldn't have been possible without the support of this great community of which we are a part.

Location
Have bottle, will travel: 101 Lakes Red tours Steuben County thanks to a mysterious prankster

Somewhat ironically then, a bottle of our most popular wine, 101 Lakes Red, mysteriously disappeared recently. Later that week, we received an unmarked envelope with a file of photos featuring the Lakes Red bottle in front of some of the most notable locations in this area.  While we suspect a vengeful garden gnome as the culprit, we opted not to pursue the perpetrator but instead decided to spin off the pics into a fun and silly contest for our patrons in honor of our 10 Year Anniversary.

Whether you live locally, or have spent some of your summers here, you may recognize these landmarks.  There are 10 photos in all (how serendipitous is that?)  For the contest, you can enter your guesses for the location of each photo, and submit your entry.  A grand prize winner will be drawn from all correct entries, with the winner receiving a $100 Satek Winery gift certificate.  All entries getting at least 5 of the answers correct will receive a 10% coupon towards gift shop merchandise.

Follow the link below to enter the contest online, or you can enter in person at the winery as well.  Good luck!

Where's the 101 Lakes Red?

The fine print: One entry per person, per email address.  Chances of winning depend on number of correct entries received, so please help us maintain the spirit of competition by not sharing your answers with your friends.  :-)  Must be 21 or older to enter.  Entry deadline is midnight, July 10, 2011.  Winner will be notified July 11th, and his/her name will be announced in the August edition of Satek Winery's eNewsletter, Best in Glass.  Please fill out your contact information completely so we will be able to get a hold of you if you are the winner.  Entries can be submitted online or in person at Satek Winery.

Sláinte!

Free limited-edition wine glass giveaway starts July 1

Anniversary glassesOne tradition we here at Satek Winery have carried on every year during our Anniversary Week is to give away a custom Satek wine glass for each two-bottles purchased.  This year will be no exception, but the wine glasses will be exceptional!  A 16-ounce red wine balloon glass with quietly elegant silver etching, this year's style is worthy of a 10 Year celebration.

The wine glass giveaway is for a limited time only, July 1 through July 10.  There is no limit to the number of free glasses you can earn, while supplies last.  For example, if you purchase a half case of wine (6 bottles), you will receive 3 free wine glasses.  Buy a case (12 bottles), get 6 free glasses.  You get the idea!  All that new stemware almost makes you want to plan a celebration of your own, doesn't it?

Long-awaited Decennial
wine debuts today

Many years in the making, this celebratory tawny red dessert wine is a result of small portions of every past Kreibaum Bay Port vintage, combined into an oak barrel and left inside for years with an intentional headspace.  Air, normally an adversary of wine, works in concert with the higher alcohol blend to produce a rounded and smooth, traditionally unconventional nutty character that replaces the more familiar style of the Ports that formed the basis for its creation.  A veritable gustatory time capsule, Decennial is the sum of seven different grape varieties and long-range planning, all in preparation for this, Satek Winery's Ten Year Anniversary.

A celebration of distinction marked by the first wine of this variety every produced by Satek Winery, we hope you enjoy Decennial as much as we have enjoyed the years and people that filled the past decade, and hope to in the future.

-Jason Satek

The 375 ml bottle of Decennial will sell for $39.99.  Due to the limited availabillity of Decennial, tasting (1 ounce pour) can be purchased for a $3 fee, which is refundable upon purchase of a bottle of Decennial (or it can instead be redeemed on a purchase of the Krystal Steuben).
