Holiday Hours
christmas ornaments
We will be open every day this month for wine tasting and purchases from 10 am-6 pm, with a few exceptions.  We are closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, and we will close at 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve so that our staff can spend time with their families.
A twist on tradition

It's nearly midnight and you and your friends begin to break out the champagne for your traditional New Year's Eve toast.
Raspberry wine
Try something new this year by celebrating with our version of Kir Royale: add our Raspberry wine to your champagne.  A delicious variation, this is especially great for your guests who don't really care for the taste of champagne. Plus, you can sip on any leftover Raspberry Wine as you make your resolutions for 2011!
Shipping deadlines

shipping boxes
We encourage you to place your order early if you plan to have wine shipped for gifts.  Remember that all parcel carriers are at their busiest this time of year, and shipping can take a little longer than normal.  Please call us with your shipping order by December 15th (or sooner)  to allow sufficient time for delivery by Christmas eve.

For details on which states we can ship to, and the laws regarding direct wine shipping, click this link to our website:

santa with presentsGreetings!

Part of what I love about the holidays is reminiscing--not  just about the events of Christmases past I see in my mind's eye, but also of the memories of the smells, sounds, and tastes of the season.  These multisensory pictures are so imprinted in my memory that I long to recreate them each year.  I carry on the labor-intensive tradition of baking and decorating butter cookies with my children from our treasured family recipe, as my mom did with my siblings and I many (many) years ago.  Hearing the delightful sound of sleigh bells, favorite Christmas songs, the rustle of wrapping paper--and yes, even the bell-ringer in front of the local store-- gets me in the spirit, even on cold and grey days.  We continue to prepare the same yummy foods for our holiday feast, with the anticipation of gorging ourselves on the best meal of the whole year.

But I decided a few years ago to create a couple of new "traditions" to add to my repertoire (perhaps I haven't gotten to sensory overload yet...).  I take my daughter to the Nutcracker ballet each December, which is now her most-cherished part of the season, and just the first few notes of Tchaikovsky start her reeling.  Both of my kids look forward to receiving a sterling silver ornament each year, which they will get to take with them when they fly the nest, to start their own tree with 20+ gleamingly beautiful and meaningful ornaments.  And this year, I'm starting a tradition just for us grown-ups.  All month long at Satek Winery, we are mulling our Blueberry Wine, which smells heavenly and tastes like Christmas in a glass.  Really.  So I'm digging out my crockpot (I always wondered what you use them for...), bringing home a few bottles of Blueberry Wine and our mulling spices (pre-made; definitely within my culinary capabilities!), and ending each day of this season of tradition with a warm glass of mulled wine.  I'll even try to save enough to share some with my holiday houseguests.  After all, traditions are meant to be shared...

Sláinte!

-Chrissie

Our presents to you this season

Although you won't have the thrill of tearing off the wrapping paper and ribbons, we're pretty sure we got you something you'll really like- -three things, actually!
  • 3 presentsFirst, we are offering free tasting of our Steuben Krystal Ice Wine, 2007 (normally a $3 charge) and our DeChaunac, 2009 (not usually available for tasting) all month long.
  • Second, we are offering our Steuben Krystal Ice Wine at $5 off the regular price, since we know so many of you plan to celebrate your holidays with this special-occasion dessert wine.  A bottle will cost $34.99 instead of $39.99 through December 31st (or until sold out).
  • Lastly, we are offering Perfect Ending, our effervescent dessert wine, at 40% off the list price, so it is now just $5.39!  Break open a bottle at the end of your meal or try it as an alternative to champagne on New Year's Eve.  At that price, you can afford to invite a few extra friends over to share with (just make them bring snacks!).
Hopefully these "gifts" will bring you back into Satek this month, even if its just to say hi or introduce your in-town guests to your favorite winery.  Remember we are open every day, 10 am- 6 pm, with the exception of the Holiday Hours listed in the left column.  Hope to see you soon!
