"How did Eureka Math Start?"

Alexandria, Louisiana's Town Talk newspaper sat down with Nell McAnelly, former
Eureka Math project director, and Pam Goodner, Grade 12 lead writer and full-time member of the Eureka professional development team, to get an inside look at the development of Eureka Math"[A] vast majority of our writers were classroom teachers. They were teaching the material they were writing. We were in the classroom every day," said McAnelly. The production of Eureka Math began in 2012 and concluded in 2014, launching initially on EngageNY.org and quickly spreading coast-to-coast. Louisiana's Rapides Parish recently released benchmark test results that showed its growth was almost double the national average after using Eureka Math. Goodner declared, "The sky's the limit with those kids who get the full curriculum."

Eureka Champion Spotlight: Grade 4-5 Teacher Erika Wimmer


"Once I get teachers to use it, they love it."
Erika Wimmer from Spanishburg Elementary School has joined our Eureka Champions networkWimmer says she was the first teacher in her Mercer County, West Virginia district to use Eureka Math and is excited that usage has since expanded to include about 1/3 of district teachers. "We had huge jumps on the STAR Renaissance test this year in math," said Wimmer. "I'm sure it was because of Eureka Math." Connect with Erika and other Eureka Champions in our online community.
