"The Great Common Core Textbook Swindle"
An article in The Daily Beast highlights the textbook industry's slow response to the Common Core State Standards. "Even five years later, the vast majority of textbooks say they're aligned with the Common Core when they actually aren't, creating a huge burden for teachers." The article discusses the findings of the non-profit, EdReports: "Of the more than 80 textbooks it reviewed, just 11 met for alignment with the Common Core. Nine of those books were from a single series, 'Eureka Math' by publisher Great Minds."

Schools Want Quality Materials, Common Core State or Not

Even educators in states that have not adopted the Common Core State Standards are using CCSS aligned curricula, such as Eureka Math, according to EdWeek. In the recent article, "Common-Core Materials Penetrate Every State," EdWeek notes that "schools and districts in all four of the non-adoption states that have downloaded [Great Minds'] free common-core materials." In addition, "of the 18 professional development institutes the publishing company is holding this summer to help teachers implement Eureka Math, two are in non-common core states." A Eureka Math Writer's Love for Math and Teaching 
"I'm so proud that the curriculum I helped write has been well-received." Lisa Watts-Lawton, a Grade 2 Eureka Math writer, writes in her recent ASCD blog post, "How I Learned to Love Math and Love Teaching It." Watts-Lawton continues, "the real reward comes from watching my students embrace the challenge of seeking out mathematical relationships and finding the most efficient strategies to solve problems."
