"EngageNY's curriculum is getting attention well beyond the Empire State" writes Robert Pondiscio in U.S. News & World Report. EngageNY was written by teacher-writers from Great Minds and has since been made available for teachers beyond New York as Eureka Math. "I recently obtained data from the New York State Education Department showing that while EngageNY units, lessons and curriculum modules have been downloaded nearly 20 million times as of early May, more than half of those users have been outside of New York. EngageNY may be quietly emerging as Common Core's first breakout hit." We are proud to point out that over 2/3 of the 20 million downloads off EngageNY were of the math materials.
The Productive Struggle
Grade 4 Eureka Math writer Mary Jones blogs about the challenges of implementing the CCSS and the role curriculum and instructional tools are playing. Teachers are often faced with "the reality of student learning gaps and limited instructional time." Eureka Math offers teachers Pacing and Preparation Guides, an online community, and more to best help with these challenges. According to Jones, "Students are beginning to exhibit a deeper understanding of math concepts, so they are better able to articulate their thinking and solve problems."
