At Eureka, we love talking math. It's great to see that happening in newspapers, too. More educators and columnists are sharing exemplary math problems ---- from algebraic expressions to word problems ---- and advocating for great math instruction for all children.

Get to know standards and curriculum.
Eureka Math reviewer Terrie Poehl wrote a letter to The Advocate (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) urging parents to learn more about the curriculum used in their children's schools. The veteran math educator argues that there is too much misinformation out there. She includes a 2nd-grade problem that shows how students can go deeper with math, giving them the skills and confidence they need to excel.
Math literacy in America.
It's not every day that math and logic problems make their way into The New York Times. But columnist Nicholas Kristof published a few this past Sunday, urging readers to test their own skills and push for improvements in instruction.

Regional institutes in the works.
To address the many requests for PD we've received, the Eureka team is attempting to expand the number of regional training institutes we're offering this summer. We hope to be in more than a dozen cities --- but we need your help. We're in need of a few more schools/districts willing and able to host a regional event. Host sites will provide three rooms with 75-100-person occupancy to accommodate concurrent sessions over two days. To express interest, contact Jennifer Loftin ( jloftin@greatminds.net).
