Here is our weekly run-down of triumphs and travails from the ongoing effort to help all American math students say, "I got it!"

Washington Post on Eureka Math.
The Washington Post covered the EdReports.org analysis of math resources used in classrooms nationwide and gave Eureka Math a shout out for its strong review. The EdReports.org review also sparked lots of discussion on Twitter from teachers, bloggers, and others:

Michigan administrator: Math is more meaningful.

"With the old focus on math facts, that was a goal in itself. That was the end point. The way the teachers are teaching this year, the focus is on really understanding how the numbers work," said Kathy Highfield, coordinator of curriculum and staff development for Holly Area Schools, in a case study interview. Holly Area Schools are in their first full year implementing Eureka Math districtwide.

Professional development is key.

Here's more of what we heard during our fall listening tour of Eureka Math districts and how we're responding.

What we heard: We heard repeatedly from Eureka Math users that they liked the professional development sessions we've hosted and resources we've provided, but they want more. In particular, teachers want to see what a Eureka Math classroom would look like with "real students."

What we're doing: We are expanding the use of classroom video footage, actual student work, and model demonstrations within our professional development sessions and resources ----  keeping the classroom reality ever-present.
NCTM Update
Jennifer Loftin, program manager for professional development, wrote in a blog post about the dozen presentations Eureka Math writers will be giving at NCTM in Boston next month.
