Happy new year,

Louisiana's Rapides Parish leads the way

Parents go back to school. Teachers in the Rapides Parish School District in Louisiana are actively helping parents whose kids are learning Eureka Math by holding parent nights, sending home newsletters, and posting resources online. The district has seen the effects of these efforts and heard from parents how much they have helped. Speaking about Eureka Math at one parent night, Northwood High School Principal Jonathon Szymanski told parents, "It's just good teaching." Read the full article here.

District shares resources. The Rapides Parish school board has compiled resources for parents to help them understand Eureka Math. Check them out here.
Curriculum Specialist talks Eureka Math. "I think it's an awesome curriculum," says Rapides Parish Elementary School Curriculum Specialist Anna Teekell. "I think it's definitely made teachers step up their game. That's not a bad thing. It's okay to stretch... Eureka Math is giving kids that deep understanding, so that they are able to complete problems that probably last year they weren't able to complete."
