ARZA Canada Week
November 9-15
Our thirteen member ARZA Canada delegation has just returned from an exhilarating week in Jerusalem for the 37th World Zionist Congress. In the world of Zionist politics, presence is power, and power works to implement our values. This Congress was very successful in doing just that. Our thanks go out to ARZENU Chair, our own Rabbi Larry Englander, who led the Reform delegation from around the world.
With this exciting chapter of our Zionist organizational life behind us, many are looking forward to the upcoming URJ Biennial in Orlando where ARZA Canada will be hosting a reception for Canadians and Israelis to meet and greet.
We are especially delighted to be welcoming top Israeli Reform leaders to Canada immediately following the Biennial to participate in our ARZA Canada Week. Every Reform congregation is encouraged to focus on an Israeli-themed program during this week. The goal is always to grow Israel engagement in our congregations and to increase awareness of and membership in ARZA Canada.
We are fortunate to have three outstanding Israeli leaders as guests: Rabbi Gilad Kariv, the Executive Director of the Israel Movement for Progressive and Reform Judaism (IMPJ), Rabbi Nir Barkin, the Director of Israel Diaspora relations for IMPJ, and Anat Hoffman, Executive Director of the Israel Religious Action Centre (IRAC). They will be visiting many of our congregations across Canada as well as meeting privately with Federations and individual supporters of IMPJ. You are invited to come hear them speak, whether at your own congregation or one available to you. I invite you to join me in showing our Israeli partners how much we care
As always, thank you for your support.
L'shalom
Miriam

Religious Pluralism in Israel: Mission Impossible?
Rabbi Gilad Kariv
Join Rabbi Kariv as we learn more about the challenges of the Reform Movement in Israel and as he addresses the current situation in Israel. Constitutional attorney, Reform Rabbi, Executive Director of the Israeli Movement for Progressive Judaism (IMPJ), and Labour Party Knesset Candidate, Rabbi Kariv is an insightful writer and provocative Israeli spokesperson for liberal, democratic Jewish values in the Land of Israel.
Rabbi Kariv, along with many others, works hard to share the accomplishments and the struggles of our sister congregations in Israel. Under his leadership, the Israeli Reform Movement has grown to 45 congregations and Rabbi Kariv has been active not only in advancing the Movement in Israel but also fighting for a pluralistic, democratic, and just state.
