With the holidays winding down, we look forward to starting to provide Israel programming to our members across the country. In October Anat Hoffman, Executive Director of Israel Religious Action Center will make a very brief visit to Canada with lectures in Toronto at Holy Blossom Temple on October 23 and in Montreal at Temple Emanu-El-Beth Sholom on October 24.
In November our guest from Israel will be Yael Karie. She is a Reform Israeli Rabbinical Student. She is a dynamic and impressive young women that can speak to the realities of progressive Judaism in Israel today. She is currently the rabbi in Shaar Hanegev, the area that has been most challenged by rockets, especially during the recent war. She will be visiting several communities across the country from November 7- 16. more information to follow.

For years the main battleground between Haredim and secular Israelis was observance of Shabbat. Recently the Haredim have also been trying to enforce gender segregation in public. The Reform movement's Israel Religious Action Centre (IRAC) had success against forcing women to the back of the bus. And they recently won a lawsuit against a radio station that refused to put women on the air.

Business: Intel to invest $6 billion

Computer chip giant Intel plans to invest a further $6 billion in Israel to upgrade a chip manufacturing plant in Kiryat Gat.
The new plant will employ an additional 1,000 Israelis. Intel already has a staff of 10,000 people in Israel.
