Your Volunteer Connect

Have you registered yet?

The ToGetHerThere Leadership conferences this fall across GSKH are an opportunity for volunteers and girls to come together for workshops and discussions on being a leader in today's world. In Wichita, on September 28, the South Central Leadership Conference featured Miss Kansas, Theresa Vail. Girl Scouts were thrilled to welcome Miss Vail who spoke to both girl and adult members, on the power of leadership. The conference also included a panel of women leaders in the community who shared their experiences on mentoring and how it has shaped their career paths.

What's next? Sign up for an upcoming Leadership Conference near you, and get ready to challenge yourself to reach your leadership potential!

November 9 - Salina

November 16 - Garden City

November 16 - Parsons

*Special Addition* November 16 - Hays - Leadership Retreat (Volunteers Only)

Tis (almost) the Season!

Learn about the Festival of Giving, and register by November 25! The Festival of Giving Season is an annual community service event held for Girl Scouts in Wichita and surrounding areas. Each Service Unit is assigned an agency that serves residents within our community. Girls will work with the adults to learn more about their assigned agency and their needs. Then each group or girl will collect or purchase items that meet the needs of their designated agency. These items will then be delivered to the agencies by the troops or girls from November 30 through December 7.

Scholarships for Girl Scouts

If you know a college-bound Girl Scout, please direct them to the Scholarship page on our website, which lists special opportunities just for Girl Scouts to earn funding for college.

Another special opportunity for middle school and high school girls is the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. The top middle and high school applicant from Kansas will each receive $1,000 and a trip to Washington, D.C. in May. Learn more about application requirements and details for more information in the link above. Application deadline is November 5, 2013.

Reach out to girls in your town.

Across Kansas, we've sent special invitations to girls who have not yet registered for the 2014 Girl Scout year. We'd love to see them back in Girl Scouting and involved. If you know a Girl Scout in your community who has not renewed, please invite her back to participate in a troop or service unit nearby! If you need help getting registered or referring a friend, please contact your regional office.
