Wichita Leadership Conference on 9/28!

Volunteers+Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors Invited!

Adults and girls in grades 6 through 12 are coming together on Saturday, September 28 at the Wichita Area Technical College for specially designed workshops on finding the leader in each of us, and empowering girls to discover their true leadership potential. We'll be joined by special guest and keynote speaker Miss Kansas Theresa Vail! Her platform fits right in with girl leadership: "Empowering Women: Overcoming Stereotypes and Breaking Barriers."

Don't miss this opportunity! Register by Monday, September 23.

Fall Opportunity Sale

It's not too late to sign up to participate!

The Fall Opportunity Sale (FOS) starts on September 27!  Have you scheduled a time to meet with the girls and parents in your troop regarding FOS?  Be sure to tell the girls and parents that FOS is a money earning activity for your troop and your troop earns 20% in Troop Proceeds. It's an easy and fun way for your troop to earn funds for your troop activities.  Don't forget to have parents sign the FOS Permission Form.  Go here for more information,

If you missed the FOS training in your area, please contact your FOS Service Unit Manager or a Product Sales staff member at 888-472-3683 for further information about how to participate. We are happy to assist you.

Outdoor Activities

Thinking about camping?

GSKH Outdoor Leadership courses are required before facilitating outdoor activities with girls.

  • The home-study Outdoor Leadership Basics 100 can be completed on your own time, and prepares volunteers to take troops or groups out for the day to hike, have a picnic, and get a taste of outdoor fun (without fire-building or outdoor cooking).
  • By completing Outdoor Leadership 101, volunteers will be qualified to plan and have backyard camp-outs, host and attend day camps, and have a camping adventure within their own community or stay at any Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland Camp property (with the exception of semi-primitive camp sites). Volunteers will also be able to lead cookouts and have campfires.
  • Outdoor Leadership 201 provides additional skills necessary required for any overnight camping (tents, A-frames, rustic cabins, etc.) outside your community and semi-primitive camping.
