Happy Holidays!

We'll catch you in 2013

All Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland offices will be closed for the holidays, from the close of business on Friday, December 21, through Tuesday, January 1, 2013.  We look forward to serving you in the new year, beginning on January 2.

Your next Connect eNews will be in your inbox on January 8.  And, speaking of January, please mark your calendar to attend one of our Volunteer Leadership Conferences next month - in Parsons on January 5, Garden City on January 19, and Salina on January 26!

The Cookies are Coming

Troop Cookie Orders Due January 10th!

It's hard to believe, but the Girl Scout Cookie Program will be here before we know it, just after the holidays!  With the new COOKIES NOW! format, initial troop cookie orders are due on January 10.

Check out the  cookie page on our website, and  contact your local product sales staff with any questions.  What can a girl do?  The options are endless, especially with the support of the largest girl-led business in the country!

In your own words

Heard around the council

We recently asked our Facebook friends to complete this sentence - Being a Girl Scout volunteer is an opportunity to...

Here's what YOU had to say:

...make a difference for at least one young girl - Christy Beshirs-Johnson

...discover the potential in each girl and work to develop her best qualities - Terri Mattison

...influence a lifetime in an encouraging and positive way - Morgan Pendleton Stevens

...TAKE ACTION to make the world a better place - Cathy Rodgers

...lead - Shelly Prichard

...help girls change the future hopefully - Tonya Ray

Seeking Nominations

Salute someone for their volunteer service

Volunteer award nominations are officially open for volunteer service during the 2011-12 Girl Scout year!  Any girl, troop, parent, or volunteer can submit a nomination.  Nominations are reviewed by a council-wide committee, and award recipients are honored at an appreciation event in the spring.  It's time to start thinking about how to recognize the amazing women and men who make Girl Scouting possible across Kansas!

Check out the information here! This year, we've included pictures of the awards, some sample nomination DOs & DON'Ts, and an online form, so nominating is a snap!

Girl Scouts Give Back

News from Goodland

Junior Girl Scout Troop 10149 participated in the Toys for Tots program in Goodland.  The girls drew names and shopped for specific children in the area.  They also met with a representative for the Toys for Tots program to learn about how it worked.  Leader Lori Amthor wrote us to say "I had tears in my eyes as the girls listened and were so genuinely caring.  This is what Girl Scouts is about.  Love every minute of it!"
