Parasha Tremuah: Giving
Have you ever gone to your parents' house with your family and left with enough food to feed an army? Why is that? Parents are habitual givers. They just can't stop. There is a bond created when you start to give. As the Jewish people left Egypt, they experienced the wondrous miracles of the plagues, the Red Sea and the giving of the Torah. They knew G-d loved them. But how would we forge a bond with G-d from our side? By giving to G-d. In this week's parasha, G-d tells Moshe that the people should donate their gold, their silver, and their copper, their skills and their talents to build Him a Mishkan, a Temple, but not because He needs one. He wanted us to develop ourselves from being dependent slaves into independent givers. He wanted us to forge a bond with Him and become partners with Him in building the world. When we give of our time and resources to our synagogue, to our community and to our neighbors, we forge bonds which make our world a better place. Shabbat Shalom!

Tzedakah! |
Wow! The 3rd/4th Davening (prayer) group filled up their second Tzedakah (charity) box of the year! It was so full that they could barely lift it! Kids tried to stuff more coins in but just couldn't! All students in Grades 1-8 are encouraged to practice the trait of giving by bringing in a coin or two each day for Tzedakah. Keep it up!
