A couple of years ago, I had the privilege of spending a weekend with a representative of Damanhur, a self-sustaining, eco-community in the Italian Alps. She spent the weekend with our group of spiritual seekers to teach us about the unique philosophy of this community and how they created the awe-inspiring underground temples termed the "Eighth Wonder of the World." 

What I found most fascinating was their philosophy of the trees and their relationship to human beings. They believe that there were three original worlds on Earth intricately connected: the tree world, the nature spirit world, and the human world. A long time ago the worlds were split. Many of us who talk to trees can travel between the worlds effortlessly, but it is not like it used to be when all the worlds were one.

They ask all humans of the earth to participate in a "Tree Orientation" ritual. When you do tree orientation, you pass a special selfic pendulum from Damanhur around a tree three times, one for each world. It only takes a minute or two, but it is powerful. It reconnects nature, trees, and humanity.
