When I was a fifth-grade teacher in California, my students and I participated in a project to repair the watershed in the valley. Many of the creeks on area ranches had lost shade trees due to cattle over-usage. The water was drying up and the fish and other animals were losing their habitats. 

I specialized in Project Based Learning which affirmed that no matter how old you are, you can make a difference in the world. I offered my students many opportunities to participate in real-world projects throughout the years. My fifth grade students were more than ready to be useful and creative. 

 Alongside experts and environmentalists, we spent an entire day planting hundreds of willow saplings along the creek beds which would eventually grow to create shade, bringing back the water and the fish habitat. Years later, my students and I have been able to return to where we planted that day to see a rich and dense foliage where it had been barren. It's a deep satisfaction to proclaim that we planted that! The children learned that they could make a difference by planting seeds for a future outcome. I offered them an alternative way to see their future. 

What are you planting today that will be something amazing later? 

 They could demonstrate their usefulness and creativity now and then feel fulfilled later -- not just superficially but in their souls. It was my intention that it would shape their adult lives as well. 

As I go through my day I remember that I am planting seeds rather than focusing on the final harvest. 

In Universal Law, this is called the Law of Gender: whatever you plant must grow. (We reap what we sow.) With this in mind, you must live from a visionary and conscious place where gratification and validation are delayed. Faith is practiced. Sometimes we forget that we can celebrate what is good in our lives. Then decide what you are creating. If you don't like it, change it! 

 *Find and celebrate the seeds that have come up -- what is positive and joyful in your life and others' lives because of your "seeds."

*Visualize the outcome of what you have planted already.

*Nurture and be conscious of what is growing already. 

*Plant more seeds.

*Do a good deed. 

*Start a movement that you may never see the outcome, just plant the seeds!
