On The Road Again...
Safe travel tips for older drivers and others
Sunshine and the longer days of summer often beckon us to take to the blue-car-icon.jpg open road...but did you know that the stretch between Memorial Day and Labor Day is historically the 100 deadliest days of the year on our nation's highways? And for older drivers, the risks can be even greater; adult children should take time during family get-togethers to observe if their parents' physical and cognitive skills are up-to-par for safe driving.

Is A Clinical Trial Right for You?
NIH offers questions, guidance to help you decide
The National Institutes on Health notes that clinical trials need more older pills3.jpg participants so that researchers can better learn how potential new drugs, therapies, medical devices, or tests may work in older people. However, whether a person is healthy and hoping to assist in medical advancements--or sick and looking for a new way of treating his or her condition--the decision to participate in a clinical trial should not be made lightly.

Sister Jennifer Miller Celebrates Golden Jubilee
Community turns out to honor well-known chaplain
Sister Jennifer Miller golden jubilee
Dozens of photographs showcased Sister Jennifer Miller's work and life during the past 50 years at her Golden Jubilee reception on June 19.
Sister Jennifer Miller, Deaconess VNA Spiritual Care Coordinator, recently celebrated 50 years of service as a Benedictine sister at a Golden Jubilee reception hosted by her family and Father Ted Tempel at St. Theresa Church.

One of seven children--and a triplet along with sisters Jan and Joy--Sister Jenny graduated from Mater Dei High School, then began her faith journey at Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, Indiana. As the pastoral associate at St. Theresa, her work with Father Tempel and Lynn Uebelhor gave her the opportunity to minister to both the living and the dying...an experience that eventually led her to become a hospice chaplain with the Visiting Nurse Association and the John and Betty Charlier Hospice Center in 2004. She has brought peace and comfort to thousands of Tri-State patients and family members with her calming voice and beautiful smile...congratulations Sister Jenny!
