Caring for Caregivers
November Marks Recognition for Unsung Heroes
Resources now available to assist family caregivers
November is National Family Caregiver Month--and studies routinely show that caregivers are often at risk of needing more physical and emotional assistance than the people they're caring for. Where to look for help? How to pay for it? Who to trust? These questions often plague individuals who are trying to provide care to a loved one; Deaconess VNA Plus Private Duty Services has compiled a collection of resources to address these challenges, including a downloadable needs checklist.

Hospice Heroes Share Compassion, Expertise Every Day

Health Care Heroes is a Tri-State recognition program sponsored by the Evansville Courier & Press and The Henderson Gleaner that features special people who have made a difference in the lives of others as it relates to their health care needs. Deaconess VNA Plus is proud to have four individuals recognized for this prestigious honor this year:
  • Douglas Hatler, MD, Hospice Medical Director;
  • Sister Jennifer Miller, Spiritual Care Coordinator;
  • Ruth Smith, Hospice Volunteer
  • Sharon Stoltz, RN, Hospice Registered Nurse

We congratulate these individuals and thank them for their devoted service to our patients and families!

With National Military and Veteran Appreciation Week (November 9-13) right around the corner, our nation's active, reserve and retired members of the military and their immediate family members can take advantage of numerous discounts on meals, goods and services. Some offers vary by state; and since some businesses may not actively promote their discounts, it's always worth inquiring. Share this list with our deserving military heroes!
