Medicare To Pay for Care Coordination
Physicians to receive compensation for service some already provide
two_doctors.jpg Beginning in January 2015, Medicare will reimburse physicians who oversee care for patients with two or more chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and depression...a move that the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid calls "a significant policy change" that officials hope will pay for itself through reduced hospital admissions.

September is World Alzheimer's Month
Philips Lifeline Cordless Communicator Anyone who is caring for someone with dementia knows that questions, concerns and emergencies don't always occur during normal business hours. The Alzheimer's Association recognizes that also and is doing something about it.
An Ounce of Prevention
Emergency Preparedness And Then Some
Seniors, disabled, others with special needs require additional planning

snowflakes2.jpg While some may look forward to the fall and winter seasons, nobody wants to experience a tornado or an ice storm and the resulting downed trees and power outages that inevitably occur. Planning ahead for severe weather is a focus of September's National Emergency Preparedness Month...and a must for the elderly and those who live with disabilities and other special needs.

Community Involvement
Evansville Honor Flight Takes Off October 25
Public is invited to show support for area Veterans
Thanks to the efforts of Atlas Van Lines and several community agencies, american-flag-wavy.jpg the inaugural Evansville Honor Flight will transport 70 Veterans (most from World War II) and their guardians to Washington, DC on Saturday, October 25 to view the national memorials dedicated in their honor. Since many are now in their 80s and 90s, this may be the only opportunity they have to make this meaningful trip...and the public is encouraged to support them on their journey.
