Suicide Prevention Month
September is National Suicide Prevention Month.

During this month, Beyond the Yellow Ribbon is highlighting the resources available to help Servicemembers, military families and community members before, during and after a crisis.

Beyond the Yellow Ribbon's Risk Reduction, Resilience and Suicide Prevention team has compiled information and contacts for suicide prevention, intervention and postvention on one flyer, which can be downloaded by clicking the image above or at www.BeyondTheYellowRibbon.org.

Wells Fargo, a Yellow Ribbon Company

Wells Fargo was the latest company to be proclaimed an official Yellow Ribbon Company during an employee breakfast at Marriott City Center Hotel in downtown Minneapolis on Sept. 10.

Attending the impromptu proclamation were Minnesota National Guard Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Richard C. Nash, Secretary of State Mark Ritchie and Director of Military Outreach Annette Kuyper, in addition to several leaders and hundreds of employees with Wells Fargo.

"On behalf of your 14,000 Minnesota National Guard members, we say, 'thank you' for your support," said Nash.

Wells Fargo was notified of their proclamation after partnering with Kuyper to develop a sustainable action plan demonstrating the company's long-term commitment to Servicemembers and military families. Part of that action plan is identifying and connecting key leaders in key areas to leverage existing support activities, build awareness throughout the company and take action to support Servicemembers and military families.

Make A Difference
Twins recognition of YR volunteers continues!

Throughout the Minnesota Twins 2013 season, the Twins are recognizing Yellow Ribbon Networks that go above and beyond in their support of Servicemembers and their families.

The latest two networks to be recognized were the Washington County Yellow Ribbon Network on Aug. 15 and Maple Grove Yellow Ribbon Network on Aug. 27. Representatives from each network were recognized at homeplate during a pregame ceremony.

The Washington County Network was recognized as being the first county to become a Yellow Ribbon County, having provided vehicle repairs at no cost for Servicemembers and military families and providing care packages to deployed Servicemembers.

The Maple Grove Network was recognized for building decks for veterans and their families and assisting in a very short-notice move for a military family.

Military Appreciation Day at the State Fair

The Great Minnesota Get Together brought Servicemembers and veterans of all generations to the State Fair on Aug. 27 during Military Appreciation Day.

Vietnam-era veterans gathered at the Leinie Lodge for a special parade honoring their service, which ended in Carousel Park with a rousing ceremony.

Other attractions included an honorary service branch flag raising, 34th Infantry Division Band performance, Information Alley with various Servicemember related booths, live recording of the Minnesota Military Radio show and a fly-over with WWII-era T6 Texan trainer planes.
