Mosquito Spraying to Start June 12

Starting June 12, and only if mosquito capture measurements indicate the need, our neighborhood will be sprayed for mosquito control purposes on Thursday nights between 7 p.m. and 2:30 a.m.

Although the ultra-low volume spray has been found to be effective in controlling the Asian Tiger Mosquito, carrier of the deadly West Nile virus, it has also been judged by the Maryland Department of Agriculture as harmless to humans.

That said, common sense dictates that it is always wise to avoid or at least limit contact with any chemical pesticides, so if you're planning a barbecue outdoors please consider a night other than Thursday.

And if you're walking your dog and see the spray truck approaching, consider finding another path for a while.

Also consider ridding your property of any standing water that could also breed these pests. Or if you can't, consider a mosquito dunk--they're only a dollar-a-pop online with free shipping, according to Dave Delia. Click here.

If you have any questions, call Dave Delia at 443-534-7229 (c) or 410-268-8622 (h).

Sunday, June 22
4 - 7 p.m.

The AOTB Property Owners Association is throwing a great party on the community beach Sunday, June 22 from 4 to 7 pm. Wine tasting will be offered at no charge to adult community members by Bay Ridge Wine and Spirits. The theme will be Summer Wines; Sip, Swirl, Savor and wine experts will guide party goers through some of the best wines for summer sipping. Wine will also be available to purchase by the full glass and by the bottle. We are also adding some Reserve Wines and great beers for purchase. The wine and Jazz party is an adults only event.

The Jim Ballard Jazz quartet will be performing all afternoon for those who wish to listen or dance. Ballard has performed with the Ink Spots, locally at Middleton's Tavern and was even featured during the Obama Inaugural. Ballard will perform vocals and the group includes saxophone, bass, piano and drums. Contact Marc Apter below with song requests.

Every family is asked to bring a dish to be shared based on the first letter of their last name.

  • Last names from A through F should bring hors d'oeuvres;
  • From G through M: a main course;
  • From N through S: dessert; and
  • From T through Z: bottled water, soda, or other non-alcoholic drinks.

Each family will be charged $10 to defray the costs including tents, ice, glasses, plates etc. at the event.

We will be providing a porta potty, tables and some chairs but you are encouraged to bring your own folding chairs. We will have some tents for shade and protection from showers. There is no rain day planned. The party goes on rain or shine. Please RSVP to by June 18th so we may plan accurately for the size crowd to expect.

We would appreciate folks volunteering for one hour to either

1. Set up,

2. Take Money,

3. Pour Wine,

4. Supervise the food table or
