Clerk's Corner |
Merry Christmas! Your council has been hard at work, even in this advent season. They are a group of committed Christian elders who are envisioning and living a new model of church work. The last several months with the leadership retreats have been helpful to focus the work of the council and their committees to specific work.
Below are decisions that have been approved over the last 3 months.
- Received the August, September, October and November financial statements.
- Allowed the Boy Scouts Troop 360 to sell greens and Christmas Wreaths in October and November.
- Annual meeting date was set for January 27,2013
- Adopted the final draft of the operations plan as presented 11/27/2012 with minor adjustments. This operations final plan was approved 12/18/2012.
- Designated the Thanksgiving and Holiday offering for the Hospitality House Kitchen Remodel project.
- Move the deacon's fund to be stewarded through the Engage Committee. The Engage Committee will determine the plan that meshes with the operations model and bring this plan back to the council in 1/2013.
- Move the Peacemaking, Pentecost and Literacy funds to the Engage Special Benevolence funds.
- Receive Paul Larson's resignation from Council with gratitude, joy, support for and blessings to Paul and thankfulness for his leadership and love for this church.
- Approval of bylaws changes regarding removal of the board of deacons and imbedding their work into the 3 E Teams and the structure of LBPC. (see separate article.
- Approved the 2013 budget
- Approved the Terms of Call for Rev. Dr. Tobin E. Wilson.
- Approved the continuation of the contract for Rev. Lina Thompson, in the Designated Temporary Associate Pastor position.
- Approved a slate of officers for the Board of Trustees which will be presented to the congregation at the annual meeting for approval.
- Communion will be served to the congregation at the first and third worship services for 2013 and home communion will be provided to congregants upon request through the church office.
- LBPC Council meetings will be held on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 7pm in the Pacific Room with the exception of July where there will be a summer break in council meetings and December which will meet on the 17th due to Christmas Eve falling on the 4th Tuesday.
As you can read, the council completes a lot of work on behalf of the congregation.
You have a very dedicated staff and council leadership team.
Blessings today and for the new year.
