McQueen's Interiors
Greetings!

Let's face it, Summer is here and now is the time to do a little entertaining, freshen up a room in your house or get the deck ready for a deck party. Easy living is our design agenda this time, and we are sharing our favorite tips  for celebrating summer at home.  Kick back, relax and let us  show you all the possibilities your home has to offer!

8 Ways to Get your Deck Ready
1. Turn the Tables-Dirt-we love it when it's nourishing our tomato plants but not so much when it's caked on our patio furniture.

2. Clean Up That Clutter-It's surprising how many things get overlooked and left outside once winter sets in.

3. Clear the Decks- Wait for a dry day to sweep decks and patios, removing dirt, dried leaves and other accumulated debris.

4. Light Up the Night-Fire pits are one of the hottest outdoor accessories around!

5. Get in Your Grill- Before you use your grill for the first time, give the stainless steel or metal exterior a good cleaning.

6. Add Splashes of Color- Once you've got your main outdoor entertaining areas squared away, you can move on to the fun part-the décor.

7. Be Crystal Clear-  Give your outdoor windows a good cleaning and you'll be able to enjoy your yard, even when you're inside.

8. Banish Pests- Nothing can ruin an outdoor party faster than a swarm of mosquitoes.

Once you're all done, reward yourself and your family with a relaxing meal outdoors, cooked up on a clean grill, served on your spotless table and surrounded by nature in all its summertime glory!

Deck Party Deck Party

Outdoor living has certainly come a long way.  It is time to kick those flimsy plastic chairs to the curb and invest in comfortable outdoor furniture. Todays outdoor furniture lets you carry the comfort of indoor living straight out to your deck or patio.  Invest in a solid pattern on your cushions so you have the flexibility to change out the throw pillows every year.  Nothing says summer has arrived more than new outdoor furniture, pillows, rugs and lighting.  Have you updated your outdoor living lately?  Now would be the perfect time, remember July 4th is just around the corner.

Summer Slumber Night
The bedroom should be your sanctuary. It is the first thing we see in the morning and the last thing we see each night. A bedroom is personal, and should be a reflection of us, so attention must be paid when it comes to decorating.  When selecting a paint color for your bedroom go with a hue you really love, not just one that is on trend.  Choose a relaxing color like sage green or a soft blue something that is peaceful on the eyes.  Remember that lighting is important, make sure you select lamps beside your bed that will produce proper lighting for reading in bed.  With just a few simple touches you can make your bedroom the retreat you have always dreamed of.  Get started today!

Sangria Best Party Sangria

1 Bottle of red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Rioja, Zinfandel, Shiraz)
1 Lemon cut into wedges
1 Orange cut into wedges
1 Lime cut into wedges
2 T. sugar
Splash of orange juice or lemonade
1 c. of raspberries or strawberries
1 small can of diced pineapples (with juice)
3 c. ginger ale
1 c. club soda

Pour wine into a large pitcher and squeeze the juice wedges from the lemon, orange and lime into the wine. Toss in the fruit wedges (leaving out seeds if possible) and pineapple then add sugar and orange juice. Chill overnight. Add ginger ale, club soda, berries and ice just before serving. If you'd like to serve right away, use chilled red wine and serve over lots of ice. However, remember that the best Sangrias are chilled around 24 hours in the frig. - allowing the flavors to really marinate into each other.
