New Flash Fiction, Butterflies & Little Bear
.

I hope you're enjoying a beautiful summer! This month's posts feature butterflies in support of libraries and a bear in support of children's picture books. But first, join me for a flash of truth and fiction in the story, "Escher's Drawing Room"...

A New Flash Fiction Piece at The Pig's Wings Blog

Join me for a visit to the home of artist M.C. Escher where we'll navigate perception bending stairs, find ourselves drawn in to (and into) a painting, and watch geometries of birds in flight. The story is illustrated by links to the works referenced throughout the story.

In March I put up a post "In Support of Libraries, Books, Words, Ideas... " about the mysterious book artist's open invitation to send butterflies for her final sculpture.

Since then, I've made some butterflies and sent them off to Scotland. I posted some photos along with more links and information in this post: "Butterflies Taking Flight for the Love of Libraries, Books, Words & Ideas"! If you'd like to join in, send your butterflies by the end of July!

Little Bear, Creative Director of The Beauty of Picture Books Website & Blog, was recently interviewed about his love of picture books, fathers reading to kids, his own memories of his father reading to him, Paddington and more! To read Little Bear's interview, click here.

(Little Bear also invited kids and families to join the butterfly project. See his "Let's Make Butterflies" post here and his finished butterflies here!)

Wishing you fun flights of magical stairways, imagination and butterflies!

Linda
