ABC
The building code currently in force in Alberta is the 2006 Alberta Building Code (ABC). The 2014 ABC, except for Section 9.36., comes into force 1 May 2015. This Code is based on the 2010 National Building Code (NBC). The 2006 edition may be used after 1 May provided:- the permit was issued before the end of the six-month transition period (ends 1 November 2015), or
- the building official is satisfied that preparation of plans and specifications began before 1 May.
Section 9.36. Energy Efficiency
Section 9.36. Energy Efficiency, incorporated into the NBC by revision in 2011) comes into force 1 May 2016. The transition period ends 1 November 2016.National Energy Code for Buildings
