Bucks or Buck Naked? When discussing "money," as in how much our services cost, we tend to either tap dance around it, stammer, or choke on the words-leaving a negative impression with clients and colleagues. In his studies on the subject of honesty, psychologist Dr. Brad Blanton, author of Radical Honesty, found that some people were more comfortable standing naked in front of a group, discussing their sexual history than in being completely honest about their finances! Money is such a touchy topic, is it any wonder, we have difficulty asking for business and being clear about money matters in our professional lives? When speaking of money or any emotionally-laden subject, a steady, neutral voice is the goal. To achieve such a tone, practice is the ticket to success. In a well-spent five minutes, you can easily collect your thoughts, write down specific words, and practice aloud to improve outcomes. Alex B. Ramsey March 28, 2013 Vol. 5 Iss. 11
