A Message from our Board President...Drayton Riley
Jean Zorn has announced her resignation from the Unity Village Chapel Board of Trustees and has been replaced by Ronna Gjesfjeld.
Jean, who was elected to the Board in March, 2013, has been a faithful member of Unity Village Chapel for many, many years. She and her husband, Jack, just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this month. Jean brought a thoughtful, kind presence to the Board and her service is appreciated very much. Jean plans to continue to be active at the Chapel, especially in her role with the Sisters of Myrtle Fillmore.
The Board unanimously approved offering Ronna the opportunity to complete Jean's three year term, which ends in March, 2016. Ronna, who was a candidate for the Board this past March, brings organizational and administrative experience to the Board along with her willingness to step up and serve where needed. She and her husband, John, are among the Chapel's most active volunteers and we are excited that Ronna accepted our invitation to serve.
Jean's resignation was strictly a compliance issue. The Chapel bylaws do not allow a member to hold a Board position if a relative receives compensation from the Chapel. Jean's daughter, Linda Shrader, has a paid part-time position, managing our Youth and Family Ministry nursery on Sunday mornings. Jean determined that the Chapel is better served by her resignation, clearing the way for Linda to continue in her valuable position. This kind of selfless, considered thinking sets a great example for all of us.
