Your help is needed to secure a $500,000 grant award.

The next deadline date for the National Endowment for the Humanities Challenge Grant will soon be here. By July 31, 2013,we must have another $600,000 in gifts and pledges or we risk losing a portion of the original $500,000 grant.

Recently our museum won the highest grant available from the National Endowment for the Humanities- $500,000! These funds are needed to keep the lights on and our local history alive. However, our museum doesn't get this money unless we can match every grant dollar with three of our own!
What the Future Holds
with your help:
  • Continuing temporary exhibits showcasing the best of local history and art, such as a Leo Adams Retrospective opening Fall 2013
  • A total renovation of the Children's Underground
  •  Permanent exhibits including Yakima's Soldiers in American Military Efforts and the Stars of Yakima
National Endowment for the Humanities Challenge

We are moving forward!
In the past six weeks, the Yakima Valley Museum has received $207,314 in new gifts and pledges. Thus, we have $797,783 toward our overall goal of $1,500,000, the amount required to meet the 3:1 National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Challenge Offer of $500,000.

We are not there yet! With your support, we have the opportunity to increase our sustainability by adding a total of $2,000,000 (our $1.5 million + the $500,000 from NEH) to our core endowment. We want to continue to provide education programs and exhibits for our growing audience, protect valuable collections, and maintain the ability to attract and keep a talented staff.

Time is short! NEH has given us an interim deadline of July 31, 2013 to bring our share up to $1.3 million or we forfeit a piece of the match. We obviously want and need the entire match. Thus, gifts or pledges of cash, stock, real estate and other assets would be terrifically appreciated.
