CEDARBURG CULTURAL CENTER EXHIBITS

The Cedarburg Cultural Center (CCC) is proud to host three upcoming exhibits in its three galleries, featuring local artists Erin Callahan Blum, Allen Caucutt and the Mequon Thiensville Senior Art League.

Grafton artist Erin Callahan Blum will be showing in the Columbia St. Mary's Gallery. Winner of the CCC's 2013 juried "Art in the Jazz Age" exhibit, artist Blum is a member of Cedarburg Artists Guild, League of Milwaukee Artists and Wisconsin Visual Artists.  Besides recent works in watercolor and acrylics, the show will feature a retrospective of original watercolors for sale.  A realist style interplayed with the abstraction afforded with watercolor is depicted in local scenes as well as botanical compositions.

The East Gallery will feature Thiensville artist, Allen Caucutt, in a retrospective exhibit entitled "Octogenarian."  Caucutt is a lecturer, docent and retired educator.   The artist earned a BA in in Art Education in 1957, and went on to earn his MA in 1963. Caucutt worked as an art educator for over 50 years. Caucutt has major artworks in over 75 public venues and over 1,500 private collections. Allen's continued passion for art and education has been a lifelong pursuit, which still carries on today.   His "Octogenarian" exhibit will feature approximately 50 pieces in an exciting mixture of sculpture and painting.

Concurrently featured with these two solo exhibits is the Mequon Thiensville Senior Art League, a group of approximately 34 artists appearing in the Center's East Gallery. The show features a spectrum of painting styles by many of our area's most accomplished senior artists. Representing the creativity of area artists aged 55 and older, the exhibit features the work of both amateurs and professionals.

All three exhibits will be held from Saturday, October 18 through Sunday, November 30, 2014, with most artwork available for purchase.  A public opening reception will be held on Sunday, October 19 from 1-4 pm. Complimentary appetizers and wine will be served.
