The Mequon-Thiensville Chamber of Commerce is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to be responsible for recruiting, training and managing groups of volunteers, as well as individual members for a volunteer pool. They must have strong communication and management skills, since they must work with many different kinds of people. While this is an unpaid position, the reward will be increased community networking opportunities and or gaining professional experience. The two chamber event planning committees are just beginning to meet to plan the 2014 chamber special events.
The Awards Committee plans the Annual Award Dinner which involves handling the selection process for the individuals and businesses nominated for their outstanding contributions to the community. The Citizen of the Year and Business of the Year recipients are recognized at the award dinner and fundraiser.
The 2014 Awards Committee will hold their initial meeting on Wednesday, February 12th from 4:30-5:30 at the Chamber office, 6331 W. Mequon Road.
Golf Committee
Help plan the 2014 Annual Golf Classic to be held in June. Interested members arel invited to join the committee. All meetings begin at 7:30 am at Sommer's Automotive - Subaru Building Conference Room, 7211 W. Mequon Road. The meeting schedule has been set: 2/20, 3/6, 3/20, 4/3, 4/17, 5/15, 5/29 and 6/5.

Other committee opportunities include joining the Chamber Ambassadors, Membership Committee or the Business Education Committee. Please contact the office for more details about serving on one of these committees as well.
Joining a committee is a great way to establish relationships with a core group of members and become further engaged in the chamber.

Homestead & Shorewood Chamber Orchestra Seeks Sponsors
On Sunday, February 16, 2014, the Homestead and Shorewood High School Chamber Orchestra will perform a concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City. This sixty-six member orchestra was accepted by audition for the opportunity to perform in the famous Isaac Stern Auditorium at Carnegie. A special send-off concert on Tuesday, February 11, 2014, 7:30 PM at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center (1111 East Brown Deer Road) is free and open to the public.The Orchestra is seeking additional support to defray some special Carnegie expense. COPE Services will host its 15th Annual Take-A-Break Luncheon on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 11am at Ozaukee Country Club. You Gotta Have Art
The Cedarburg Cultural Center will host their You Gotta Have Art Fundraiser on Saturday, February 15, 2014. This fundraising event supports the arts education programming of the non-profit CCC where art, music and history have thrived for more than 28 years. The evening's festivities include cocktails and appetizers beginning at 6:30pm, live art demonstrations with an auction of pieces created by six featured artists, a silent auction, Balloon Pop raffle, and entertainment. Lionfest Request
The Thiensville-Mequon Lions Club is currently planning its 50th Annual Lionfest held at Thiensville Village Park on June 13, 14, 15, 2014. LionFest proceeds benefit community programs, and we are requesting support from local businesses to ensure its success.
