Indiana Child and Youth Care Certification Testing

Indiana has joined a national certification for child and youth care workers administered by the Child and Youth Care Certification Board.

This certification will soon become the highest standard for quality as a person develops their career as a youth development professional (Youth Worker).

There are three levels of certification, descriptions and additional information can be found at this site.

You may sign up to take the qualifying exam here. The exam will be offered three times this summer:

Saturday, June 4, 2016, 9:00 am to 12:00 noon ET Location to be Determined in Indianapolis

Wednesday, July 20, 2016, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm
ET Location to be Determined in Indianapolis

Monday, August 1, 2016, 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm

The fees for taking the test and completing the portfolio will be covered if you complete the process this calendar year. This opportunity is for all youth workers, not just Journey Fellows.

Summer Camp Opportunity
Indianapolis, IN 

The Intercollegiate YMCA provides a free six week summer camp program for youth that live in the Laurelwood community, which is located just two miles north of the University of Indianapolis.  Laurelwood is a public housing community within the Indianapolis Housing Agency (IHA), and the Intercollegiate YMCA has been providing this neighborhood with free youth programming for well over ten years.  We are looking for passionate individuals who are interested in making a difference in the lives of these youth.  If you are interested or know of another qualified individual that might be interested, please feel free to share this link for the job posting.  Our summer camp dates will run from June 13th through July 22nd and is from 9:00am-4:00pm Monday through Friday.

Notre Dame Football Tickets

I am a staff member at Notre Dame and I am selling a pair of tickets to the Notre Dame vs. Duke football game on September 24th, 2016. I am selling the tickets at face value for $200 for the pair. Kick off for the game is at 3:30pm. 

At this time I only have tickets available for the September 24th game. If more dates become available I will be sure to share the information through the Connections newsletter.

FREE Alcohol & Drug Use Screening
Training Opportunity

The Indiana Prevention Resource Center presents a Summer of SBIRT for FREE! SBIRT stands for Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment. Learn how to utilize this evidence-based screening process to end the cycle of alcohol and drug use in your community!

Between May and July, 19 trainings will be offered in 16 different locations throughout the state. Levels of training range from a 1-hour brief overview, to an 8-hour provider training, to a 2.5-day master training. Our Whole Lives Young Adult Facilitator Training
June 22-24, 2016

University of Louisville Health Promotion is hosting an Our Whole Lives (OWL) Young Adult facilitator training this summer, and we'd love to include you and your colleagues!  This is an opportunity for community members and those who work with young adults to learn useful sex-positive information, AND become effective facilitators in any subject area.
  
OWL is a comprehensive, inclusive sexuality education that provides accurate, developmentally appropriate information about a range of topics, including relationships, gender identity, sexual orientation, sexual health, and cultural influences on sexuality.
