Take Time for Kids! Trauma Informed Care Training

Presented by, 2013 Journey Fellows, Nancy Fisher and Skye Berger, Take Time for Kids! is a three-day curriculum designed to teach providers about serving families affected by trauma, abuse and neglect. Training participants will learn about:
* Assessment and Intervention Techniques for families affected by Trauma
* Effects of Trauma on brain development
* The four Tenets of Trauma Informed Care
* Avoiding secondary/vicarious trauma
* Creating Trauma Informed Care Organizations and Systems

Your $100 Registration INCLUDES:
* Three Day Training: Take Time for Kids! provided by Indiana State Department of Child Services
* Opportunity for Local Shopping
* Two nights stay at The Best Western, Merrillville
* Opportunity to connect with Journey fellows at 5:01 event on Monday night
* Three lunches during the training provided by Children's Bureau, Inc.
* Journey dinner on Tuesday night
* Participants can earn up to 20 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) from NASW for completion of the training.

Understanding the Teenage Brain:
Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor  to present in Bloomington

YSB is thrilled to announce that Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, neuroanatomist and best-selling author of My Stroke of Insight, will be presenting on "Understanding the Teenage Brain" this September.  Dr. Taylor is a Harvard-trained brain scientist and was featured in the first TED talk to go viral.  She experienced a rare form of stroke in 1996 and took 8 years to fully recover.  She has been an advocate for those who have experienced neurological trauma and created a not-for-profit organization focused on providing educational services and promoting programs related to the advancement of brain awareness, appreciation, exploration, education, injury prevention, neurological recovery, and the value of movement on mental and physical health.
