MCCOY Summer Learning Coaches

MCCOY is seeking high energy individuals who are passionate about helping children learn during the summer months by serving as Summer Learning Coaches in community based summer youth programs. 

 

As an Americorps VISTA summer associate, you will work under the supervision and guidance of community based youth agency staff to provide fun, hands on learning activities, especially in reading and math that will both prevent summer learning loss and promote academic growth.  

 

This is a 10 week commitment from June 1---August 8, 2015.  You will receive a living allowance of $2150 plus your choice of a cash stipend of $250 or an educational award of $1,250 upon successful completion of the term of service. Strengthening Families Program

FSSA Evidenced Based Practice Clinical Training Series

April 16th and 17th, 2015

 

The Strengthening Families Program is an evidence-based prevention program for parents and children ages 3-5, 6-11 and 12-16 in higher risk families. SFP consists of parenting skills, children's life skills, and family skills training courses taught together in fourteen 2-hours group sessions preceded by a meal that includes informal family practice time and group leader coaching. SFP was designed in 14 sessions to assure sufficient dosage to promote behavior change in high risk families.

The Indianapolis Congregational Action Network,IndyCAN (indycan.org),  is a community grass-roots organization that has been attempting to get certain language written into the Mayor's proposed new $1.75 Billion Criminal Justice Center (CJC) build.  This new CJC build must be approved by the City Council and the thought is that they will vote on it on April 20. 

 

This is a chance for you to make a difference.  Even if you want a Criminal Justice Center built, you should strongly consider showing up to become informed.
