Title: Counselor

 

Summary:  

Serves as Counselor/Therapist for the Monroe County Youth Service Bureau with primary focus on Binkley House Emergency Youth Shelter.  Responsible for providing home-based and short-term intervention counseling for youths and their families, and providing training and group facilitation for youths, parents, volunteers, and community organizations. 

Must be able to serve in an on-call emergency counselor rotation & able to be onsite at YSB within 20 minutes of request. 

Must be able to provide some services on evening & weekends, or as needed.  Position is Full-Time 40 hours a week and exempt. 

 Qualifications: 

Master's degree in counseling or social work required.  Minimum 3 years prior experience with at-risk youth.  Licensed or license eligible in the state of Indiana.  Prior experience with Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy strongly preferred. 

 

Salary:$40,539 annually plus benefits

MCCOY Summer VISTAs

 VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) Summer Program is a highly professional and rigorous volunteer service program through which national service members serve as full time volunteers in organizations for ten weeks year. VISTA projects focus on building permanent capacity and infrastructure in nonprofit and other organizations to help more effectively bring individuals and communities out of poverty. VISTA Summer Associates will serve from June 2, 2014 to August 8, 2014.

 

MCCOY is seeking high energy individuals who are passionate about helping children learn during the summer months by serving as Summer Learning Coaches in community based summer youth programs.  As an Americorps VISTA summer associate, you will work under the supervision and guidance  of agency staff to support fun learning activities, especially in reading and math, that will both prevent summer learning loss and promote academic growth.  In addition, you will have the chance to have fun, mentor young people, and have a summer experience you won't soon forget.  This is a 10 week commitment from June 2 - August 8.  Summer VISTAs receive a stipend of $2115 for the 10 week commitment as well as a choice of a $250 cash award or a $1200 education award at the successful conclusion of their term.  Training and orientation is provided.
