Dear Friends,
| We hope you enjoy the spring edition of our newsletter. We are featuring our newly remodeled computer room in this issue. There is also an article by one of our current students and an introduction to one of our instructors. The warmer weather of the last few weeks has given our students a chance to go back outdoors and enjoy each others company outside the classroom. A group of students ventured to Broadmore Wildlife Sanctuary a few weeks ago. They spent the afternoon rambling through the woods, observing nature, and picnicking on a sunny wooden boardwalk overlooking the ponds.
Others lent a hand to help keep Boston as beautiful as always. The BSML students spent a Saturday morning picking up trash alongside the Charles River in coordination with the Charles River Watershed Association.
Last but not least, our Activity Coordinator led a group of students to Alpine Adventures in New Hampshire. The group spent the day climbing obstacles, speeding down giant slides, and riding the zipline.
Sadly, last week we said goodbye to the visiting Thai group. We will miss the students' energy, positivity, thoughtfulness, and curiosity.
We at BSML look forward to a stimulating, productive, and fun-filled upcoming summer!

BSML Announces New TOEFL Test Prep and Computer Lab
|
 | | Computer Lab |
BSML is pleased to announce the opening of our new TOEFL Test Prep and Computer lab. The lab has been completely redesigned and equipped with new Apple iMac computers. Although the lab is primarily being used for TOEFL test preparation, students will also be able to use the lab for various other activities, including homework, vocabulary review, reading, class projects and web research.
In addition to the new computer lab, the school is equipped with state-of-the-art high speed, wireless Internet throughout the campus and high definition large screen monitors are being installed in many classrooms equipped with Apple TV so the BSML curriculum can be presented and effectively shared by all class participants.
For questions about our expanded TOEFL preparation curriculum, please contact your BSML representative or contact us at info@studyenglish.com.

BSML Student, Shunsuke Aoyama
|
 | | Shunsuke Aoyama |
I've been at BSML since January. It has been an interesting experience. I really enjoy being immersed in the English language. I've learned so much from my teachers, host family, school staff.
The teachers at school give me a lot of useful information about the English language, culture and manners. They're kind and patient. I feel comfortable learning English in this school. All these things that I've learned have become useful in my day to day life.
The school staff is very accommodating. They're always willing to help me. When I have a problem in my American life, they show me correct way to solve it. For example, on my host mother's birthday, one of the school's staff members helped me to buy her a present. Every day I appreciate all the staff.
I live with a host family. My host mother takes very good care of me. She cooks every day. Her food is delicious and also healthy. My host father and I always have good conversations every day. I feel as if I'm a part of their family.
From my experience so far, I'm very happy with the school and people whom I have met. I'm going to study at this good school until December. I'll take a lot of memories and English skill back to Japan.

Ed Rubin started working at BSML in August of 1998. He was looking for a way to apply his language teaching skills to ESL students while he was on vacation from his full time job teaching Spanish at Chelmsford High School. Ed loved it so much that he came back for the next 11 years. When he retired from Chelmsford in June of 2010, he became a full time staff member.
Ed's hobbies are movies, jigsaw puzzles and other games on the computer, crosswords, and spending time with his grandchildren. Ed lives in south Brookline with his wife of 42 years.

English Tips from Our Teachers
| |
|
Bob's Grammar Tips
The future continuous tense is often used to indicate a period of prolonged activity in the future. Examples: Don't call me tomorrow. I'll be studying for the tests on Friday. My car is in the repair shop; I'll be taking the bus to work for the next couple of days.
Sandra 's Vocabulary Words A nightmare is a bad dream, but, in casual speech, it is also any extremely disagreeable situation: Example: The traffic on the way to the airport was a nightmare!
Ines' Idioms
One of the many meanings of the phrasal verb "take in" is to experience an event, usually one that is visual. Examples: My friend and I are going to "take" in a movie tonight. We sat on the beach and "took" in the sunrise.
