FRIEND of 2-1-1 Campaign!

2-1-1 Big Bend helped more than 46,000 people through our hotline programs in the past year.  Many of these callers wanted crisis support and counseling, while others were even more desperate and contemplating suicide.  For example, Lifeline, receives about 100 calls a month and about half of those calls are related to suicide.  Our goal is to listen, assess risk and help our callers make rational decisions.  By doing so, we save hundreds of lives each year. Click here to learn how you can help.

Greetings!

We are proud to announce that 2-1-1 Big Bend has been re-accredited by the American Association of Suicidology (AAS) for the third time.  This means that we have been evaluated and found to meet all criteria established by AAS as an approved Crisis Intervention Program.  This is a five-year accreditation from July 2015 - July 2020.

Our summer 2-1-1 Help Me Grow public awareness campaign was implemented last month on television, radio, newspaper and buses.  We are beginning to see more calls for our Help Me Grow services serving families with children 0-8 years old.  If you know anyone concerned about their child's developmental progress, have them call 2-1-1 and we will assist with a free screening, referrals for additional services and follow-up assistance.

New 2-1-1 Big Bend
Board Member

Wilnick SaintCharles

Wilnick SaintCharles is an alumnus of Florida A & M University, and was born and raised in the beautiful city of Miami, Florida. The oldest child of Haitian parents, Wilnick is the first person in his family to go to college and obtain a degree. As a resident of Tallahassee, he has done charitable work all across the city such as neighborhood cleanups, feeding the homeless, tutoring, assisting the elderly, mentoring and many more.

Currently, Wilnick also serves on the board of the Tallahassee Network of Young Professionals, and he's a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., 100 Black Men of America, New Leaders Council, and Rotary International.

Being impressed with
2-1-1 Big Bend's
mission and the variety of services offered, he was very eager to join the board in hopes of providing support and assistance. He believes all can benefit from an agency such as 2-1-1 and he'd like to see it gain more recognition.

Welcome Wilnick!
