Greetings!
Randy Nicklaus
Randy Nicklaus, President

We celebrated Children's Day at the Capitol this week with hundreds of other service providers and child advocates.  Many other outreach events are also underway this month to promote our Help Me Grow services and Helpline 2-1-1 hotline assistance.
.
The Kearney Center had its grand opening this month and residents from The Shelter will move in next week.  Our staff are involved with the development of polices procedures for the new Center as well as planning for our software upgrade so we can integrate our system with he Continuum of Care HMIS software.
.
A Night in the Tropics will be here soon - April 25th.  We are excited to have some new additions this year including Crooked Shooz who will be performing, Connie's Hams as our caterer and Proof Beer on tap.  Thanks to Krispy Kreme for being our Lifeline Sponsor.  Please join us! Tickets available at www.211bigbend.org/Tropics2015
.
Best regards,
Randy

MEET MARCO

Marco Romero
Hotline Counselor,
2-1-1 Big Bend

As the saying goes, there's no "I" in TEAM and Marco is the epitome of a team member.  To begin, he started with the agency January 2012, was cleared on all hotlines, and volunteered over 500 hours when the commitment is only 200. He is also 2-1-1's only full-time, bilingual counselor.  Marco has perfect attendance and has never been late.  And please read some of the comments by his peers:

"Incredibly compassionate and empathetic with his callers. He's very patient and always uses a warm voice tone."

"Even though he has a full plate as the Family Health Line lead counselor, he always offers to help his colleagues."

You're a ROCK STAR MARCO
and we appreciate you!

REFLECTIONS...

from one of a Few Good Men

"When I left my real job, I had zero dollars and I had to live off the generosity of other people which I didn't feel to good about at the time. So having been virtually destitute myself, it gives you an indelible memory of what it's like to be out there without."

~ Rick Kearney, President, Mainline Information Systems
