Greetings!  Randy Nicklaus

Thanks to our First Responders for your work to help our community in 2014.  At 2-1-1 Big Bend we often work with our fire, EMT, police and sheriff's organizations to respond to community emergencies as well as individual crises.  We know how important you are to our quality of life and safety!
.
I'm excited that our new Help Me Grow (HMG) program will have its public launch at the end of this month.  HMG serves families with children 0-8 by screening for early detection of development delays and care coordination to help them access needed services.  This is a system of care so a major focus is to work with existing programs, help improve communication and partnerships and to educate health providers and the community about the importance of early detection and interventions.  HMG will compliment existing services and fill gaps that exist.  Beginning at the end of January, people can call 2-1-1 and seek these services.

Did you know that February is national 2-1-1 Awareness Month? We will kick off our awareness activities with RUN 2-1-1 on January 31 at Southwood Town Center.  Thanks to Capital Health Plan for being our presenting event sponsor. Registration is available online.  Please join us!
.
The annual 2-1-1 Big Bend "A Night in the Tropics" fundraising event will be April 25th at the Auto Museum.  We have some new things in store this year so put the date on your calendar and plan to join us.

Kim Boyer, M.H.S.A, B.S.N., R.N.
Tallahassee Memorial Hospital

Currently employed as the
Service-Line Administrator for Emergency Services at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, Kim has been a registered nurse for nearly 34 years. She graduated from Indiana State University in 1980 with a B.S.N, returned to school in 1990 and earned a Masters in Healthcare Administration from Ohio University in 1993.

Kim transplanted from Cincinnati to Tallahassee in December 2014. Her career has been varied and very interesting because she always looked for new challenges over the years. "Involving staff, empowering and growing the team leads to great accomplishments." Over the years she has enjoyed learning and building teams that have accomplished much!

"I am excited to serve on the 2-1-1 Big Bend Board because they provide much needed services to the community. There is a team atmosphere at the organization and I have already started to get involved in projects!"

Welcome Kim!

REFLECTIONS

The almost daily tragedies involving our citizens and First Responder agencies underscore the importance of 2-1-1 Big Bend. We pride ourselves on being the gateway to human service resources and we will continue to do our part to deescalate crises. Please continue to spread the good word about our agency and join us in February during 2-1-1 Awareness Month at these events:

2/14 - Uptown Cares (Stop by for breakfast or lunch; our agency will benefit from the day's sales at Uptown Cafe. Also participate in the raffle for a smoked salmon)

2/19 - Cocktails for a Cause (Join us over a cocktail at the University Center Club to learn more about our agency)

2/27 - Volunteer Appreciation Banquet (This is an annual event to recognize and celebrate our volunteers who are the essential backbone of our agency)
