September is National Suicide Prevention Month

Suicide is one of the leading causes of death annually in the United States. In order to inform and engage health professionals and the general public about suicide prevention and signs of suicide National Suicide Prevention Week was created.

Please join 2-1-1 Big Bend in supporting suicide prevention. Together we can reduce the number of lives shaken by a needless and tragic death.

Greetings!

Randy Nicklaus2-1-1 Big Bend is now an official Partner with ECHO and The Beatitude Foundation at the Renaissance Community Center (RCC). We are taking a more active role at the RCC to develop the policies and procedures for the operations at the new Community Emergency Service Center (CESC) which will open in February 2015.  Next steps will include working with the RCC on grants and software/technology improvements.  Our board and staff believe that we can make a more significant contribution to serving our homeless neighbors as a RCC Partner.
The Help Me Grow program is set to roll out as soon as we are able to execute a contact.  This should happen before the end of October so stay tuned in for further developments.
Thanks to everyone who shared nice comments and support to me as a Finalist in the recent Leadership Tallahassee Distinguished Leadership Awards event.  I was honored to be nominated and congratulate all the wonderful leaders who were nominated and those who received the awards.  We have great community and I'm happy I am so involved in it!
President

Building Florida's Help Me Grow

2-1-1 Big Bend will soon introduce a new program called Help Me Grow through a contract with the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council. Five new Florida communities were selected to become a new Help Me Grow Affiliate and our application was one of those chosen. Help Me Grow is a system for building partnerships between 2-1-1s, public schools, Early Learning Coalitions, pediatricians and other health providers to help families who may have a child with a developmental, behavioral or emotional delay. Many of these partner relationships have been built though our existing collaborations, but many new ones will be developed too. 2-1-1 Big Bend is in a unique position to work with any and all human service organizations because we cover all service areas with our hotline and community resource directory.

Help Me Grow is an efficient and effective system - with a proven track record throughout the nation. We are excited to become a Help Me Grow Affiliate and believe it's a model that we can replicate with other types of services and problems people face.
