Greetings!
Randy Photo
Three new awareness campaigns are being launched this month. These include the Summer Food Program, the Diabetes Life-style self-management programs, and the DCF "Who's REALLY Watching Your Child?" campaign.  Each campaign is statewide and they all promote the 2-1-1 number.

The Summer Food Program is sponsored by the Florida Department of Agriculture.  This is the third consecutive year that all 2-1-1s in Florida are partnering with the Department to help families find free summer food lunch programs for their children.

For the second straight year, 2-1-1s are partnering with the Florida Department of Health to document CDC recognized programs that help people manage or prevent diabetes.  Anyone can call 2-1-1 to get referrals to these programs in their local areas.

The DCF campaign was announced in earlier this spring, but a statewide PSA campaign was launched this month.  Parents are encouraged to call 2-1-1 to access child care information and referrals to community programs.

We are very excited to be a part of these three initiatives that will help thousands of people in our state.

We couldn't provide these services without the support of our sponsors, donors and volunteers.  Thanks for helping us throughout the year and especially at our recent A Night in the Tropics fundraiser.  You help make all of our services possible!
President

2-1-1 Big Bend Helps Flooding Survivors Calling from
Pensacola Area
A devastating storm drenched the Florida Panhandle area causing thousands of people to be stranded including many who experienced flood waters in their homes.  2-1-1 Big Bend's hotline counselors assisted 304 callers from the Pensacola area who dialed 2-1-1 for help on Wednesday April 30th.  The agency usually provides just after-hours hotline services for the United Way of Escambia County's 2-1-1 program. However, on Wednesday the service was extended throughout the entire day, because the Escambia United Way could not open its doors and their staff was told to stay home because the roads were unsafe.  Counselors at the 2-1-1 Big Bend office in Tallahassee
filled in to help our neighbors.

2-1-1 Big Bend, the gateway to human service resource needs.  Remember Hurricane Season is upon us and this could happen in our community next time.  We are prepared to help our community whenever needed, 24/7.
Just dial these three digits 2-1-1.
