Eleven years ago on February 11th (2/11), we officially launched the 2-1-1 number to serve Tallahassee and the 8-county Big Bend region.  Every year we celebrate 2-1-1 Day on February 11.

Today, 2-1-1 serves more than 283 milion Americans - more than 90% of our population - in all 50 states, plus Washington DC and Puerto Rico.  In 2012 (latest data available), almost 16 milion people called 2-1-1 in the U.S about job training, employment, food pantries, help for an aging parent, addiction prevention programs, affordable housing options, support groups and volunteer opportunities.  After a disaster, when many land lines aren't working, people call 2-1-1 to search out water, food, shelter and disaster aid.

We wouldn't be able to provide our 24/7 hotline services if we didn't have a wonderful staff of professionals and trained volunteers.  More than 140 volunteers contribute ovr 12,000 hours to our services each year - the equivalent of 6 full time staff members!  Our Spring 2014 hotline training class began with a full group of 35 vounteers.  In addition, we have a strong internship program with students from FSU, FAMU and Thomas University.

Please help us during 2-1-1 Awareness Month by attending our events, telling others about our services and making a donation to our agency.  We appreciate your help!

Also, remember to save the date for our annual fundraising event - Saturday April 26, 2014
