Greetings!

The holiday season is in full swing as I write this article.  Our Helpline 2-1-1 counselors are helping many callers find food and clothing for their families.  We refer people to holiday meal sites, Christmas Connection, Toys for Tots and other seasonal programs designed to assist families during this time of year.

This month we also experienced the first cold snap which activated the Cold Nights Shelter which opens to assist homeless men during freezing and near freezing nights.  2-1-1 serves as a number to call to find out when the shelter is open and the procedure for accessing this service.  Thanks to the organizations and churches that support this program.

This week we welcomed two individuals who joined our board.  Maria Knight is a Youth Leadership Tallahassee graduate and Danielle Lentchner is our hotline volunteer who became the volunteer representative on the board.  Both bring enthusiasm and energy that will help us target our outreach to students and bring new ideas to our discussions.  Welcome to you both!

Please help us on November 21 to raise $1,000 in matching funds from the Community Foundation of North Florida and the Knight Foundation.  By making a $25 or more donation on-line we can earn an equal match up to $1,000.  See below for more details and select 2-1-1 Big Bend on Match Day!
