November 2012 |
| Randy Nicklaus, President |
Greetings!
First, I want to thank the 29 new hotline volunteers that completed our Fall 2012 training class. We appreciate your dedication to helping our callers!
This week is full of special activities and recognitions. Wednesday is "Donation Match Day" to highlight the Community Foundation's new www.FindLearnGive.com website. 2-1-1 Big Bend was one of the first local agencies to put a profile on this site. Therefore, on Wednesday, you can make a donation to our agency via this website and have it matched. Please read the adjacent article and help us out with a donation!
Thursday is National Philanthropy Day and our local Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is sponsoring its annual recognition luncheon. This year we are giving special thanks to Polly White, a 2-1-1 Big Bend board member, and representative of Capital Health Plan (CHP). Both Polly and CHP have generously supported our agency through donations and other contributions. Also, I congratulate Tallahassee Sunrise Rotary for being recognized as this year's Philanthropic Organization of the year!
Finally, I want to bring your attention to Friday which is National Information & Referral (I&R) Awareness Day. As one of more than 1200 professional I&R agencies in the nation, we help bring people and services together via our hotline, online database and community collaborations. We celebrate this day by asking you to help us education the community about our services so we can help more people in the coming year!
