SCHOOL BELLS RINGING
School Bus

Fulton County school bells ring in the new school year on August 10, 2015. After a nice summer lull to the morning commute, it's time to prepare for the addition of class schedules and school busses. Commuters also need to keep in mind several construction projects underway around the city, influencing the flow.  Construction continues at Spalding Drive and Mount Vernon Road where intersection improvements are being made.  Motorists will need to continue to follow the detour until late August, when that project should wrap up.  Riverside Drive at Johnson Ferry also remains closed as the City realigns the existing sharp curve on Riverside.  Again, motorists are asked to follow the published detour, with this project also expected to complete in late August.

At Glenforest Road and Brookgreen Road, we have a closure while we replace and install storm sewer pipes.  That closure should last into September.  September is also an expected completion date for the Northridge Bridge replacement project.  We thank you for your patience as we work to make your drive in and around Sandy Springs a smoother ride.

HELP SHAPE SANDY SPRINGS

This summer we asked for your input on what you thought were the major issues impacting Sandy Springs as well as our best features. Representatives from Rhodeside and Harwell, the firm helping the City create a blueprint for our next ten years, want to meet with you to continue that conversation.

WHEN:           Tuesday, August 11

                        6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

WHERE:        Sandy Springs City Hall Council Chambers

                       7840 Roswell Road, Building 500

The meeting is open to all City of Sandy Springs HOA and neighborhood groups. If the president is unable to attend, an alternate may attend. If your neighborhood does not have an HOA or organized neighborhood group, an alternate may attend. Participation is limited to two representatives from each neighborhood.

We are planning many opportunities for your neighbors to get involved in this building process.  We hope that you will help us get the word out as we work together to build the next generation Sandy Springs.

GOING DIGITAL
The City is implementing new software to help with efficiencies among our field inspectors.  Beginning late August, Code Enforcement, Building, and Land Development inspectors will be working in the field with ipads, which will capture data in the field and link directly with internal databases.  The new software also comes with e-plan capabilities, which will follow this fall. As we all know, software implementation almost always provides a surprise or two. We ask for patience as our team and program get connected.
