STAR SPANGLED CELEBRATION!

More than 5,000 spectators gathered at the Concourse Corporate Center on July 5th to watch the skies over Sandy Springs light up as part of the City's Stars and Stripes Independence Day Celebration.  The third annual event is a community gathering, with participants enjoying picnics with family and friends, frisbee games and music from Backwoodz Branded and Shiloh.  While the main event was centered at the Concourse, light show lovers were able to view the sparkles around the area with spectators camped out along Hammond Drive, at Perimeter Mall and in the Costco parking lot.  The complimentary event is co-sponsored by the city of Sandy springs and the Concourse Corporate Center (Building and Land Technology and Regent Partners).

CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES AT SPALDING DRIVE AND MOUNT VERNON ROAD

The intersection at Spalding Drive and Mt. Vernon Road will remain closed to through traffic as construction continues on roadway improvements. Detours are in place to assist motorists traveling through the area, and drivers are asked to use extreme caution and maintain the posted speed limits along the detour routes. This safety-focused project re-aligns the intersection and enhances traffic operations with the installation of traffic signals. The project is expected to be completed late August, weather permitting. Click here for the detour map. For more information visit the project page on the City's website.

RIVERSIDE DRIVE REALIGNMENT

Riverside Drive, south of Johnson Ferry Road, also remains closed to through traffic as the City realigns the existing sharp curve on Riverside. Work is planned to be completed by late August, weather permitting. Please follow the detour during construction. Drivers are asked to use extreme caution when driving in the area and maintain the posted speed limits.
