SPRING PAVING SCHEDULE
Paving

With the arrival of spring, it's time to Pave On! The City's resurfacing program begins next week, weather permitting.  Paving will take place between 8 am - 5 pm, except where noted on the schedule. You can click here for the paving schedule and details about the process.

IMPROVEMENTS BEGIN AT SPALDING DRIVE AND MOUNT VERNON INTERSECTION

The intersection at Spalding Drive and Mt. Vernon Road will close to through traffic beginning Monday, April 13 as construction begins on roadway improvements (weather permitting). Detours will be in place to assist motorists traveling through the area. Drivers are asked to use extreme caution and maintain the posted speed limits along the detour routes.

This safety-focused project re-aligns the intersection and enhances traffic operations with the installation of traffic signals. For more information visit the project page on the City's website.

HOME IMPROVEMENTS - DON'T FORGET THESE RULES
home-front-door.jpg Spring is a popular season to spruce up both home and garden. Please keep in mind the following common code enforcement tips:
  • Weeds and grass should not exceed 10 inches in height
  • Roof drains, gutters and downspouts should be maintained in good repair and free from obstructions.
  • All exterior surfaces, including doors, door and window frames, cornices, porches, trim, balconies, decks and fences, should be maintained in good condition.
  • No inoperative or unlicensed motor vehicles should be parked, kept or stored on the premises, and no vehicle should be in a state of major disassembly, disrepair, or in the process of being stripped or dismantled.

If you have trees that are no longer viable, a tree removal permit is required for:

  • Removal of any hardwood or pine tree 18" diameter at breast height (DBH) or larger
  • Removal of a Dogwood or Redbud 10" DBH or larger
  • Removal of any tree located within the Chattahoochee River Corridor or a Stream Buffer.

If you have questions about when a permit is required, please contact the City Arborist either via email or by calling 770-730-5600.  Note that the Sandy Springs Arborists do not provide tree advice related to private property; residents should contact a private tree company for assistance.  For more information, visit the Natural Resource Protection section on the City€™s website.
