REGISTRATION OPEN NY SOLAR SUMMIT
The Age of Solar
REGISTER NOW
Sustainable CUNY's 10th annual New York State Solar Summit will highlight the importance of resiliency and explore how the NYS Public Service Commission's 'Reforming the Energy Vision' will transform utility companies. In addition, the Summit will feature the NYC Solar Partnership and the programs designed to achieve the largest mayoral commitment to solar in the United States as well as the Governor's NY-Sun programs that include solar opportunities for all New Yorkers. The Summit will detail the tools that help give all New Yorkers a pathway to solar including the CUNY-built NY Solar Map and Portal and CUNY's comprehensive NYSolar Smart program; the DG Hub- Resilient Solar Project, and NYC Grid Ready in partnership with Con Edison. New York's renewable energy revolution is ramping up to become a bigger part of the energy equation, bringing stability, security and strength through diversity and local supply, and a significant number of good-paying energy jobs to the Empire State. SOLAR IN THE CITY
NYC/CUNY LAUNCH SOLARIZE NYC
Mayor Bill de Blasio has launched Solarize NYC, a citywide program designed to further increase access to solar through community group purchasing campaigns over the next nine years. Communities that are interested in applying can submit a Letter of Interest (LOI) at Solarize NYC. The NYC Solar Partnership, led by Sustainable CUNY of the City University of New York, which works collaboratively with the New York City Mayor's Office of Sustainability and the New York City Economic Development Corporation, will lead the implementation of the program. The Partnership will work alongside selected communities to design a Solarize NYC campaign that will include: technical assistance from solar ombudsmen; funding support for marketing materials and staff time; and marketing and outreach plans that are tailored to the needs of their community. BROOKLYN CB6 KICKS OFF 'SUN FOR ALL'
Solarize Brooklyn CB6: Sun For All is a unique solar program as it offers two opportunities for residents and business owners to participate: Community Shared Solar aimed at renters and those without a viable roof for solar; and Here Comes Solar, a group purchasing program. Sustainable CUNY is leading an effort to bring Community Shared Solar to the residents of Brooklyn CB6 and beyond in this first of its kind campaign in NYC. Community Shared Solar is a way for people to purchase a small section of a large solar array and have the energy generated from that solar panel applied to their utility bill. Now renters and people whose rooftops can't sustain a solar array can finally go solar. Visit the Solarize Brooklyn CB6:Sun for All website to learn more and sign up for a workshop. The program is supported by NY-Sun and the U.S. DOE SunShot Initiative.
DG HUB CONNECTS V2G & SOLAR
Sustainable CUNY's Smart DG Hub is working with NRG, a leading integrated power company in the U.S., on a 'Vehicle to Grid' (V2G) Project at CUNY.  Six plug-in electric vehicles (PEV) will be installed at CUNY's Queens College Campus, one of NYC's Coastal Emergency Shelters, in Flushing, NY.  The six PEVs with reverse power flow capabilities will be integrated into the campus fleet, and when connected to the bi-directional Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE), can represent approximately 200 kWh of storage capacity.  The Smart DG Hub encouraged collaboration between SHINES, a solar-plus-storage project also at Queens College, and the V2G team. The projects will now be integrated by connecting one bi-directional electric vehicle into the resilient PV system being installed through SHINES.
