New Yorkers are quickly catching on to the concept of 'Solarize' campaigns: the more people who sign on, the lower the cost for everyone. With the support of the U.S. Department of Energy, Sustainable CUNY is conducting two solarize pilot programs this summer: Solarize Brooklyn CB6, and Solarize Huntington. In Huntington, 140 have already signed up for a free site assessment with the campaigns vetted contractor, and eight have signed contracts - making all parties eligible for the 'Tier 3' price of $3.50 a watt. In Brooklyn CB6 more than 300 have attended the free solarize workshops or signed up to learn more with multiple proposals in the works.
