16 NYS Jurisdictions Lead the Way
Everyone is busy these days: too much to do, so little time. Yet, 16 NYS Jurisdictions raised their hands a year and half ago and made a pledge to the U.S. Department of Energy to help remove barriers to New York State's solar market. Meeting monthly in strategically formed Working Groups, these 16 are leading the way, virtually rolling up their sleeves and addressing solar barriers facing jurisdictions, both large and small. New York Solar Installers
As a 'home rule' state, New York's 1550 municipalities often have different permitting processes that add time and costs as installers navigate their varying rules and procedures, adding to the 'soft costs' of installing solar.  [...]
NYC Permitting WG Releases Checklist
The NYC Permitting & Interconnection Working Group, consisting of CUNY, the NYC Department of Buildings, the Fire Department of New York, NYSERDA, and Con Edison, have developed a checklist of the different forms needed to submit a solar project in America's city of skyscrapers. The checklist includes notes and tips on each form to help contractors navigate the application processes. Checklist
NY Banks on Solar

The NY Green Bank, a $1 billion initiative from Governor Andrew Cuomo's office, is lending $200 million towards seven new clean energy projects across the state, including a four megawatt ground-mounted solar photovoltaic energy project on the former Bethlehem Steel mill site in Lackawanna.  NY Green Bank partners with private-sector lenders to support projects that cannot otherwise access the financing to make them happen. By providing financial products to lenders, such as credit enhancement, loan loss reserves and loan bundling, NY Green Bank alleviates these barriers, backing clean energy projects that create jobs and help make New York's communities more sustainable.
