Dear Members,
Recording Artist Jackie Evancho is scheduled to perform in the following cities, with a locally-hired orchestra in each venue:
November 22, 2014 - Mayo Performing Arts Center (Morristown, NJ)
February 22, 2015 - Peace Concert Hall (Greenville, SC)
March 26, 2015 - Ruth Eckerd Hall (Clearwater, FL)
April 23, 2015 - Grove Theatre (Shippensburg, PA)
The producers of this event have been resistant to file local AFM agreements for these engagements, which is troubling in light of the producers' intentions to film one or more of these concerts for a planned public television project.
If you are called to perform services for this event please contact your local union to ensure a proper agreement is in place.
If you discover or are called for taping for a public television project featuring Jackie Evancho, please contact Pat Varriale at the New York office of the AFM, (917) 229-0234, or by e-mail at pvarriale@afm.org. This applies even if you are asked to mime to pre-recorded tracks, as the AFM covers this employment as well.
Again, the producers of this program have not entered into the AFM National Public Television Agreement and, therefore, your services will not be properly covered.
Thank you for your assistance.

Will you help the Local 802 Musicians' Emergency Relief Fund continue its work on your behalf?
Dear musician,
Your donation to the Local 802 Musicians' ERF supports a unique & dedicated safety net, coming to the aid of your brother and sister members in their times of dire need. The ERF was created for musicians and funded by musicians. We are taking care of our own!
Whether the problem is one of serious illness, homelessness, addiction, alcoholism, family & relationship crises, or the sustained loss of income, the ERF and the office of our Musicians' Assistance Program (MAP) are ready to help.
Completely confidential services for members and their families are available at MAP without charge. Money to directly pay doctors, landlords, utilities, and other creditors comes in the form of grants from the ERF.
It takes a lot of cash to make this all happen and the need has never been greater!
Your tax-deductible donation is critical to our mission.
Any amount you may choose is deeply appreciated. Your generous gift to the ERF will be recognized on our list of supporters (with your permission, of course) on the new ERF website.
Please support us now by clicking here. (Or click on this button below:)
You may also send your check, payable to "Local 802 Musicians' ERF" to: Emergency Relief Fund, Attention: Andy Schwartz, Local 802, 322 West 48th Street, New York, NY 10036
Thank you,
Local 802 Musicians' Emergency Relief Fund
P.S. Are you planning your estate? Will you please consider the ERF in those plans? Contact us to discuss this important legacy gift!

IS YOUR BOW CONTRABAND?
On Feb. 25, 2014, the federal government issued sweeping new restrictions that prohibit the import or export of African elephant ivory into or out of the United States.
Any person traveling into or out of the United States with a musical instrument that contains ivory is subject to increased border scrutiny and enforcement.
The AFM is working with the federal government, members of Congress and other national partners to address this new threat to musicians' ability to travel unimpeded.
